Okay! First let me apologize for my lack of picture or any discernible evidence of actually being prepared for this. I didn't actually see it until yesterday... Oh well!
I didn't actually become involved in the performing arts until my Junior year of high school, which unfortunately for me, was just two years ago. However, in those two years, I performed in five high school productions, stage managed for one, and was involved in several theatre-based fundraisers and become a member of my school's branch of the International Thespian Society. In fact, I was involved in so much in those two years, as was awarded the status of Honor Thespian at the end of my senior year.
However, please don't thinking I'm just bragging in order to get votes or anything like that. I just wanted you all to see how even though I got involved late -- both arts AND applying here -- I truly love being involved in the performing arts and am totally and utterly dedicated to them.
So yes, I am a theatre nerd!

Why I should get your vote? Well, because when I'm involved in a show, I'm a very self-sufficient actor. And I don't mean that I get a lot of work as an actor, because since high school I really haven't... What I mean is, when I am in a show, I constantly read the script and work at understanding my character. In fact, when I was cast as The Baker in my high school's production of "Into the Woods", I filled out an entire notebook -- as well as a lot of random scrap paper -- with inner monologues, his history (some completely from the script and others pieced from what the script gave me), etc. I really did my best to understand who the Baker was before trying to BE him, and I believe that is what made my performance in "Into the Woods" my best performance so far.
On a related note, when it comes down to me being in a musical, I get obsessed with it and end up learning all of the songs within the first month... sometimes within the first few weeks, depending on the difficulty of the songs and how much I'm obsessed. So not only do I know my own material, I also know the material of the rest of the cast, which becomes useful if another actor blanks on stage or is downright missing. And of course that almost never happens, but it's always reassuring to know that just in case something happens onstage, you can always help out to keep the show moving.
Okay, now that my obsessive nature is covered, I only have a little bit left to say! It's really only a list of things that are left, but they really speak for themselves, so I'll try to be brief.
When I act, I refuse to allow myself to be prejudiced against my character -- I always try to look at them through their own eyes instead of mine.
I never give up on myself -- even if I'm having trouble understanding a character or singing a harmony, I will work at it until I get it right.
I'm easy to get a long with -- or at least that's what I've been told.
I'm creative and can work through ambiguity -- I really don't need a director to hold my hand. I love the input and direction they give, but I am completely able to bring stuff to the table instead of just waiting for instruction.
I'm dedicated -- I know I mentioned that before, but I really feel that's my strongest point. In two years, I earned 60 points in order to become an Honor Thespian, which is pretty hard already. I even was considered the most dedicated Thespian at our school! As well as most melodramatic, but that's another story!
So yes. My apologies for how long this all is, but I really don't want to sell myself short. What I've written is who I am, and that's why I put so much. Thanks for reading it instead of just glancing by. =D
