Bio:
Hi! I'm Angelina Ramirez and I'm an actress in the valley with my B.A. in Theatre from Arizona State. I've performed all over the valley including at ASU at the Prism Theatre, Lyceum and of course the Galvin Playhouse Mainstage Theatre at ASU. I have been in coutless productions since graduating and musicals are my passion. I was Maggie in Tempe Little Theatre's "A Chorus Line" and I absolutely loved that part and connected with that character so much. I have also won an AriZoni award for Best Actress in a Contracted Play at Phoenix Theatre. Acting, singing and dancing is my passion. I love all styles of dance as well, especially the Latin dances! I was on the ASU Ballroom Competition Team for 2 and a half years and continued my studies at Scottsdale Community College for a year and a half after that. I've competed in numerous dance competitions for ballroom, swing and latin dances and even minored in Dance (jazz, modern and ballet) in College. I just love the arts!
I've been passionate for the theatre since I can remember. Going to a very low income school, I was unable to see the arts most of the time. I would always watch musicals and movies with my mother and sisters and I knew I wanted to be like those women on film. I went to see the Velveteen Rabbit when I was in 3rd grade because of a reward for being on the Honor Roll. From then on, I knew acting was what I wanted to do. I auditioned for my first show in 6th grade at the Valley Youth Theatre in Phoenix. It was Alice in Wonderland. I had never auditioned or known what auditions entailed. My mother had never even had the time to take me to any lessons or anything, especially with a husband and 4 kids. I actually got callbacks! The dance audition came and I had never danced to any choreography in my life, except for in front of the tv. I didn't make it. Because my mother took the time and I could see her smiling face during my callback, it inspired me to want to do more. In high school I took dance and was on the news station for the entire school. I loved it and just continued and grew. Those initial experiences led me to where I am today and that is why it is so important to put arts back in the schools. Having lost a sister just 4 years ago to cancer and my very best friend, acting has helped me overcome those obstacles. I dedicate every performance I do this very day to them, my inspiration and hope. So vote for me and keep the ball rolling for this girl who is still that 3rd grader just waiting to get chosen on "A Chorus Line." What a dream that would be!
